February 19-21, 2010 Indianapolis Hilton North You know that time of year when it’s snowing and freezing cold outside here in Indiana? It’s time for the 2010 Indiana Young Farmers Convention! Why not head to a hotel and enjoy some fun and fellowship with fellow farmers from across the state. We are going to start Friday night with a tribute to the 80’s. That’s right we want you to break out the leg warmers, sweater dresses, and big hair. Guys we want to see you in your Urban Cowboy or Dallas get ups. We are going to host a Lip Sync contest with the State Officer team as the “Guest Judges”. This is what we need, each chapter put together a rock or country group and put on your best performance! We need brave souls to participate and win prizes for best performance and costumes. The annual Euchre tournament will follow using the same format as last year. Saturday brings all of the Education Seminars. Our morning sessions will be ID Theft and Risk Management. ID Theft will discuss ways to prevent theft and what to look for on your credit report. They will also have question and answer time during the session. Risk Management is presented by Custom Ag Solutions. Custom Ag Solutions offers its Ag 2020(Survival Today – Thrive Tomorrow) Program to help producers evaluate and make today’s critical operating, marketing, and financing decisions. Our program begins with a review of current economic factors that are likely to impact pending decisions. We then offer producers a set of decision frameworks, including cost-benefit, best-worst, risk-reward, and what if-models. Next, we use these frameworks to move through the decision-making process for several common operating and financing decisions. Finally, we take participants’ questions about any specific challenges they face. Our afternoon sessions will be USDA Waterways and Canning and Preserves. USDA will discuss the program for waterways and how the financing works to have them placed on your property. The canning and preserves session will be hosted by Mary Sharp. She will discuss the steps needed to can your vegetables and make those yummy preserves from your fruit trees or strawberry patch. Chuck Roach is also returning with another session of team building and leadership. The Gala is Saturday at 6 p.m. with the live auction following. We will again have Sertoma there for a little bit of Vegas country style from 9:00 to 11:00. You will receive your first $100 in chips from Sertoma. Now if you are like me and unlucky you can make an IYFA donation and receive additional chips. There will be a drawing at the end of the evening for door prizes. The dance will begin at 10:30 and go until 12:30; we want to see everyone out there shaking their “grove thing”! Convention Contests
